Just a quick note to let you know about several amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) that will be coming into effect in the near future. Although the changes are not earth shattering, they do provide some benefits to both Landlords and Tenants. More changes to the RTA are coming in the near future, but no details have been provided.

These amendments are the output from two previously released bills and will take effect on July 1 and September 21, 2026:

• Bill 97, Helping Homebuyers, Protecting Tenants Act, 2023, which received Royal Assent on June 8, 2023; and

• Bill 60, Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025, which received Royal Assent on November 27, 2025.
